The SVA manual states that the radius on the bottom edge of a dashboard has to be of 19mm what have other people done, pics if poss, Thanks in advance.

I used some edging strip on the edge of the ally dash with 3mm foam rubber then vinyl over the top. The SVA manual allows a 5mm radius if covered with a non rigid material with a hardness of less than 50 shore A.

It attracted the attention of a few of the testers at SVA.

Not done it yet but plan is to make flat dash of ali sheet with bottom edge bent under to appropriate radius and edging strip over top of turn over in case that offends them.

Obviously no photo but can post drawing if I've not made it clear.

Hi Mac,

I made my dash out of MDF. To form the 19mm radius on the lower edge, I glued some thick card to the front lower edge, and then using some wooden dowel of the right diameter, I folded the card around the wood and glued it to the rear side of the dash. Once this had dried, I fibreglassed the entire dash, and have since covered it with foam, and vinyl. If you e-mail me, I'll send you some pics.

I've made my dash out of exterior grade plywood and the bottom edge has been padded with pipe instulation. The pipe insulation was modified my cutting out 90degrees and the remaining 270degree section was staple gunned in position. The whole dash was then covered in thin foam and the top layer was leather lookalike PVC material.

I made my dash out of 1/4 plywood and machined a hockystick section out of timber and mitered the corner angles and screwed it onto the ply dash. the hockystick section is a D section with a rebated face in the shape of a hockystick!difficult to explain but if you go to a joinery workshop they will know what you mean.!! soz not got any photos!

p.s. remember if you use a hard dash the instrument bezzels must have a radius of 3.2mm for the SVA!
