Does anyone know if the SVA allows the F1 style quick release buckles on four point harnesses? Various other threads have asked the same question and I seem to get the answer that you need the standard 'push button' type buckle. According to the SVA manual, the buckle should be 'E' marked and easily operatable by either hand.

Has anyone actually fitted the F1 style and successfully got through the SVA. We would really like them on our car, but they are expensive and we don't really want to have to pay for two lots of belts if these are no good.

if you are close to SVA why not see if someone will let you borrow their 'push type' 4points for the test and buy the f1 style that you want. id lend you a set if i had, im sure others will. and theres no harm in asking

That is a thought I guess. We are not actually that close to SVA. It is jus that there are things that we can do that don't rely on other things within the car. Nice to actually finish some jobs (like the seats and harnesses) rather than have everything part done!

Just in case anyone was wondering what I found out about this, I spoke to a guy at the Vehicle Inspectorate head office. He said that as far as he was aware there was no particular legislation against the lever style buckles, and so long as they adhere to the 'open single handedly from either side' rule they should pass. However, he did suggest ringing the local SVA station to make sure!
