Hi,
Does anyone know where I can get some pre-formed GRP sheet, the kind of thing box vans are paneled with. I want to cover in my trailer and would
rather use GRP than Alu sheet so I don't have to paint it afterwards.
Thanks
Box vans are generally panelled with Glass fibre coated ply. Such as this

If it is for the bed of your trailer then an anti slip version may be suitable. My local Ulster Timber do it in 8'x4' for £35.18 +VAT.
Interesting I'd always assumed box van panels where GRP all the way through put they do seem quite rigid so coated ply would make more sense. Its not for the bed of the trailer I'm puting a steel box frame on the top to keep the car in which I'll then panel over with some sort of sheet if i can't find anything better I'll probably go with Alu sheet
If you try some of the refrigerated trailer building firms they may be able to help you out. The panels on these use 2 or 3mm polyester or f/glass skins bonded to insulating foam and ply. Ask around.
If you are going to cover over an item as big as a car, plain GRP sheet would not be up to the job. You would have to make it inordinately thick, and it would still flex a lot. If you want to use GRP it is simple to make a flat panel, as long as you put some ribs in it to reduce the flexing. If you need some info, send me a U2U. Regards Ray.
