Anyone build your own nose cone?
hillbillybuilder - 16/12/05 at 09:06 PM

I'm considering just that but without one in hand for reference it is a bit confusing.

I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction as to how to get started.

Thanks

unless you want something as a one off i would strongly recomend buying one it'll probably be cheaper.
its alot of work and very very time consuming making f/glass panels.

Here in the states I can get one from Coveland for around $200. That's about as much as the steel for the chassis costs. I guess I'm a bit strange in that I enjoy working with composites. I just hate finishing them out. (itchy)

I had to slice two inches out of my nose cone to make it fit my chassis. After all the strengthening i had to put in it its quite heavy. I'm gonna try and get it looking good and take a ift off it to make a new one.
Not quite starting from scratch.
I enjoy working with composites too its good when you look at something you've
done yourself.
I think to many folk just go out and buy the bits instead of having a go at making them.
Good luck to you.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for!

I made one myself. See my site for more details. http://www.mk-indy.nl/ (started on nose in july 2004). It was a lot of work, but did give me the possibility to make it exactly like I wanted. In the end it is cheaper to buy on, but then you're stuck to what's available.

It is currently being prepared for painting, and now looks like this (bonnet and nose are one piece):

Damn right Triton, getting high on accetone is an added bonus.
