ideas - this time for rear buklhead
02GF74 - 13/4/06 at 11:52 AM

ok, seats have been fitted but the rear bulkhead, the bit that the seat backs rest against, is plain aluminium that looks a bit out of place.

so what do I do? paint it or pvc trim? or get used to it.

photo please .

The nicest I've seen are painted in a crinkle type finish. Preferable to covering in other way imho due to potential effect of rain!

Not very exciting but preferable to the ali sheet I had before. Single ABS sheet won't disolour from water ingress and slightly better for NVH (noise vibration harmonics).

Using black PVC or it's ABS alternatives will absorb heat - expand into bumps and bulges around the rivets and possibly split and generally degrade quicker than Aluminium. Agree about noise damping but WTF?

I found some incredibly thin zintec at the scrapyard for free. You can cut it like paper and it's primed one side if you want to paint it. I can't hear much when the car's running anyway . If the aluminium bothers you stick some upholstery vinyl or carpet over it.

Ok so NVH isn't on everyones list but it has reduced some resonaces!

My ali sheet lasted about a year before it was a dented and scratched. So if the ABS lasts that long I'm happy.
