Tried an M8, seemed to bind, maybe I've got paint in my thread..... cheers nutter...

They're M8 and usually full of rust. Proper way to sort it is with an M8 tap, but I saw someone solve the problem with an 8.8 high-tensile bolt with a couple of slots ground along its length with an angle grinder. Might clear the crud out OK?

Cheers,

Eddy

Yes Jasper I had to run a tap through them but they are M8!

BTW, did u use spacers or just tighten them up as they are a good distance from the uprights

Jasper, I've used long M8 bolts fitted/tightened up from the disc side, effectively making studs to fit the wing brackets. Then I have used nuts for the mounting plate to bolt up to, and finally nylock nuts to finish. The beauty of using nuts instead of spacers is that it gives a little bit of adjustablity.

Yes - me too. M*8 x 40mm set screws as it happens. If I was doing it again I'd probably try and get 45mm, as it'll give a couple more threads engagement on the Nylocs.

Eddy

Good idea, just have to dismantle the calipers/discs again, after threadlocking the capilers on!

Cut spacers to suit.
