This is one of those eureka moments. Like the time the engine first started, the time you sat in the bare chassis on the floor. The kinda thing that signals progress and that you havnt thrown 400+ hrs of your life away.

Doing a locost modded extensively to be a larger morgan like vehicle was adventurous, especially in that it needs more complicated bodywork than a locost, but at the same time much less involved than alanb's meerkat.

Well, this weekend my second part (done the boot lid already) came out the mould. And its not too bad.

Tried it without wax - just pva - and it came out no better or worse in terms of release.

The piccy shows some of the stages.

Top left is the mdf / hardboard buck. Made the sides out of stepped MDF to form a curve that was then built up with car body filler, and tested for shape with a template slid over the outside.

Top right is finished buck with pva applied, just prior to laying up the mould. The other wheel arch will be made on the other side - base - of the buck - thats what im doing at present.

The bottom of the pic shows the mould on the rhs of the pic, with the finished part, in white gelcoat, on the left. It will be painted later.

Actually, I dont have a lot of patience (see my TOL postings ) but can apply myself to summat I want that looks acheivable!

The website isnt that developed....will add a bit more soon.

As far as the GRP, I have 9 body panels to make I recon. This is number 2. Number 3 - the other rear wing - will hopefully be ready in about 2 weeks. Every stage needs a day or two to dry - its slow work.
