I got busy with the angle grinder and cut the old vents out, then grafted in a pair of vents from a well known middy (can you guess what it is?) ..... what do you think?

Followers of my side vent fiasco will be pleased to hear that I have finally made up my mind now

That's very neat! Are you going to put some mesh behind the hole? That would make it just right, I reckon.

My earlier attempts looked a bit amateurish so I conceded defeat in the design department and bought a pair of vents on eBay (£10 
) and grafted
them in using fibreglass & filler.
I am going to put stainless mesh behind it to cover up the gubbins which should finish it off nicely.
