bonnet catches

From the pictures i have seen on various web site, i see that most people use over centre catches to hold on the bonnet. My question is, are they ok to get through the SVA? I see Robin Hood have gone to an 'alligator bonnet'. Is this to make the bonnet 'SVA' test freindly or is it just fpr posing?

Simon

I had exactly the same concern. I believe that builders who have used the over-center catches have covered them for the SVA. I considered using Dzus fasteners, but ended up with some neat little push catches from SFC Fastfix Solutions which are SVA approved. Web site is http://www.fastfix-direct.co.uk/

Hope this helps.

I've got the same catches from fastfix, they look just right.
Will have a go at fitting them next week.

They are a fiddle to fit. I fitted 8. Three down each side and two on the scuttle end. Not trying to teach my gran to suck eggs, but make sure the lining up is spot on. I fitted my brackets to the car first, put the bonnet and and drilled a pilot hole through bonnet and bracket. Then removed the brackets to fit the clips. Re-fitted brackets. Fitted push fasteners without retaining clips to check alignment. Made holes slighter larger in bonnet to allow for errors:-). Fitted retainers. If you order Simon, get a couple of spair retainers (just in case).
