Nose cone vent (seen it but now cant find it)
Moorron - 20/9/06 at 08:04 AM

Ive seen a pic off here of a kit car (think it was an MK Indy not sure) that had a twin nacta (spell?) moulding into the nose cone. sure the car was red.

Can anyone link me to it or another one with this type of vent fitted?

OR any pics of nose cone vents would b nice.

Cheers
Andy.

keep them comming

Cheers Piddy. Can i say those 2 first pics a extremly nice.

The yellow 7 is the sort of vent i was on about tho. The one ive seen is like what i have, a twin vent as a single moulding.

Im fitting one to mine, but wanted to see if it looked tacky just sticking it on instead of moulding and painting so it seemless.

It looks fine on that pic tho. my car is black so should i paint the duct black or have it another colour??

That orange Donkevoort is something else!....

Damn - just wet myself!

Had a look around the net and can find no other reference to one with those headlights or hardtop......

where did you find it?

Hammerhead - 20/9/06 at 01:47 PM

the orange donkervoort looks like its got elise s2 lights and possibly the roof and rear butresses.

I'd like to know where its from too please

StevieB - 20/9/06 at 02:28 PM

It's a Lotus Exige roof and headlights etc. Looks suspiciously photoshopped, otherwise incredibly well put together (especially since hey didn't put any doors on it!)

However, maybe it would be good if someone did do something like this for real!

Maybe not... this seems to be a prototype......

StevieB - 20/9/06 at 03:06 PM

I gladly stand corrceted.

If I was planning my car to be anywhere near civilised, that's how I'd want it!

Sadly - I stand corrected It is photoshopped after all

I have just found the original piccy that has been altered:

linky

Still there is no reason why it couldn't be done surely?

It could be done, but you'd need either doors, or some funky hinged roof type thing.

What the hell is that!

It looks lieka westfield from the bonet but then the nose is different ?

You'd never get in and out of it, and the car would have to be quite large (remember the roofline of the exige is quite long to cover the engine - it'd look daft if you cut it short).

Maybe something like the back of a Smart Roadster Coupe would work (and give a bit more boot space)? Rescued attachment smart_coupe_roadster08.jpg

DaveFJ's has doors. How can you keep the chassis rigidbility?

StevieB - 20/9/06 at 04:52 PM

The doors don't need to be cut into the chassis - it'd be just like the weather gear and doors you get on caterhams/westfields. Just makes life incredibly awkward for getting in and out.

JamJah - 20/9/06 at 04:52 PM

Prefered the roadster roadster. in fact would still own one if i was still allowed on the public road!
A mitti 3cylinder engine is only £850 form SmartScrap... tempting for a donor! Mind you I'm waiting for the Kimber with the manual box!!!

Sorry for the hijack... back to the roofs!

StevieB - 20/9/06 at 04:54 PM

I've just sold my roadster - really nice Speedsilver edition, fully loaded with all the extra's. Just not practical enough for running to and from Glasgow regularly!

Corking engine, if you could just get rid of the bloody gearbox though!
