Low profile over centre catch?
RazMan - 8/10/06 at 11:05 AM

I'm looking for a catch that I can recess in my bodywork so that it ends up flush. Can anyone suggest a good one?
Here is a pic of the application (catch site marked in yellow) Rescued attachment rear catch.jpg

Aerocatch

They do a lockable one too.....obviously nobody could have any reason to steal your roof, but i bet the little f****ers would anyway

In fact this pic of a GT40 on thier site looks very similar to your roof

I've already used 4 Aerocatches on the car but unfortunately I can't use one in this case due to the way the bodywork closes (there isn't enough depth either). It swings in on a hinge so will not be straight enough for an Aerocatch.
I can only think of an over centre catch being suited to this application ....... but I'm open to suggestions

Any reason the o/c catch couldn't be on the inside?

So the underside of your rear lid and roof have the hook and catch assemblies on them? Doesn't need to be anything special then, just a normal Southco catch.

Edit: When I say normal Southco catch I hadn't realised they do a massive range, worth checking out!

I was talking about this one

But they do some wicked stuff....

Unfortunately the roll cage gets in the way of anything on the underside so I am forced to have something surface mounted, although the decor panel which was designed to hide the roof hinges might be deep enough to hide those rubber Southco jobbies - kinder to Mr SVA too.
I think they are the ones which Europa sell aren't they?

This central catch is only needed to stop some panel flexing/rattling which I have noticed - the lower half is secured by Aerocatches
