Hi Guys and Gals,
Just working towards SVA and I need some advice on how best to seal my nosecone to my bonnet. Is tadpole trim the way to go or is there a better way?
I need to take up a bit of a variable gap as my bodywork was modified and the flanges are not perfect any more. My nosecone bolts down to the chassis
and the bonnet has 4 SVA compliant straps if that makes any difference.
Cheers,
Craig.
I spent ages messing around with sticky back foam and stuff with little success.
In the end, I fitted black plastic 'U' trim (I think some call it herringbone) around the front and rear edges (ali bonnet).
A smaller version of the stuff people fit around the front wings.
HTH,
James
Hi James,
Thanks for that - not sure it would work for me though.
My bodywork originally came form GTS tuning and has vertical flanges on both the nosecone and bonnet. These are about 1" deep. Therefore I
don't have an edge onto which I could attach a U trim.
I was thinking of riveting tadpole trim onto the nosecone but just wanted to check for any better ideas.
Cheers,
Craig.
I am planning to use self adhesive neoprene foam strip i got off ebay! just sticks down on nose cone rebate.

I have GTS bodywork but dont see a problem with that join its the one from the bonnet to the scuttle that will need something. You got a pic you ccould put up?

I'd forgotten you had the GTS stuff.... but I have it as well.
I riveted a flange(?) made from bent 'L' shape ali section to the rear face of the nosecone, so that I had something to sit the ali bonnet
onto.
If your flanges aren't really inline anymore, why not give up on them and chop em off the bonnet!
'U' trim will work for your rear bonnet to scuttle connection anyway.
