hi guys ,
some of you will have seen the westfield i have just bought and it has very faded red bodywork on it it is infact going brown ive never worked with
fibreglass before is it a case of cutting it back with something like g3 and polisshing it up ?
try some MER on it first. not cheap but brilliant for fibre glass bodywork.
easy to try and wont damage the car
1500-200 grade wet and dry.
Then G3.
Protect with polish.
If you are still struggling, pop up a post at Detailing World, there is some amazing work on there and someone will have experience of bringing back fibreglass.
There is a good possibility that you won't be able to restore it to it's former glory, the discolouration can go pretty deep IME. I have
vigorously attacked the bonnet on the Striker with lots of wet and dry, and although you can polish it up to a nice smooth shiny finish, I have yet to
be able to remove the faded areas, and I'm not sure how much gel coat is let
Going to get it sprayed I think.
what should i expect to pay for a prep and spray on a 7?
JeffC did a fantastic write up on prepping and spraying a westie on WSCC. Wel worth looking it up.
For faded bodywork ive had great sucess using G3, then G10 and a good polish before but on painted cars. For the cost of the cutting compound (approx
£7 a bottle from memory) its worth trying it first. Ive tried t cut type stuff before but its not as good.
