New screen
Humbug - 20/1/08 at 12:01 PM

My efforts...

I took the old one off as it was a bit low and a couple of the bolt holes had cracked through.

New screen made from 5mm Lexan, heated with a hot air paint stripper and bent to shape, bolted to the scuttle.

I took the trim off my sidescreens and trimmed them to line up with the screen.

Top pic below is the old arrangment, the other two how it looks now. Rescued attachment 2008-01-20 New windscreen.jpg

Looks good but is that ok for the MOT?

SeaBass - 20/1/08 at 02:01 PM

It does look neat -

Do you get a lot of movement at high speeds with that setup though? The "door" acrylic especially?

Looks much better

MOT - don't know yet as it's less than 3 years old! I think I should be OK as even a shortarse like me can look over the top, so it should count as a wind deflector

Movement - it's a bit higher than my old screen (Mac#1). I went for a drive this morning including a quick blat on a dual carriageway at "70 mph tops" - the screen "gives" a little bit in the centre, but doesn't wobble. The sidescreens are the same ones I had before (except for the trim) and they tend to lean in a bit but don't flap.
