This afternoon i was denied action on the circuit because of the height of my rollbar, they stated it was to low.
On this pic you can clearly see it.
How would i do a mod...??
i know that my seats are on 20mm bushes but that won't make THE difference...
i thought of welding on 2 banana's to upper the height a bit??
Tks
Cut it off and weld a new one on in my mind that's the only way

Have to agree with Jacko, I'm afraid. That or a shorter neck.

They had a good point. your head with helmet on should be at least an inch below a line drawn from the top foremost point oof the engine to the
rollover hoop.
I would suggest replacing the whole hoop for a taller one which will do the important job of protecting your head if you roll over.
Cheers
Mark
Full new one or an extra little hoop:
Pat...
Hi it might be worth noting that if they are strict enough to deny you entry due to height they may also deny you entry with a hoop added on top of
the original. Here in the UK strictly speaking it is against MSA/FIA regulations to do that.
As others have suggested start from fresh.
Cheers Matt
You could have a full cage welded on to your roll bar, something like this
Rescued attachment roll bar.jpg
yeah I think full cages look quite smart on a 7
starting from new is very very difficult...
mainly because the crossbars wich you see go downwards to the edge of the car, no way i can cut then off / replace them without taking the back off,
tot ake the back off i need to take the wigs off and i need to take off all the loom etc. etc..
i think i will add 2 banana's (like the one above) and also add a new bar to the crossbar...i only need 15cm...
are your seats on the floor or monuted on runners

Probably worth talking to the scrutineers about whatever you plan to do. Be a complete pain to weld on the additional banana-hoops and then be told they won't accept those either.
Minimum SCCA height is 2" above the helmeted head. As others have mentioned a new rollbar is the best way to go. However, sometimes you can
run removable rollbars with sleeves. Meaning you may be able to just cut the down tubes as low as you can reach then sleeve, drill and bolt the new
bar into place.
Look into what is required, and what is recommended for rollbars by your local rules. You might find if one track fails you on that, another might
fail you on something else (like the angle between your main hoop and the down tubes.... it looks too small).
Good luck.

- What about lowering the seat?
- Then a little spacer on the mountings?
If that doesn't work, I would make a complete new one
cut the old rollbar on each vertical, slide a new rollbar (minus the bottom mounts) over each vertical post, weld it up and bobs yer uncle?
No offence tks but this pointed out to you by chrisgamlin a while back

i only remebered it because i thought i wouldn't like to be doing track days with a roll bar that low... i went for a full cage on mine, i think
that'd be your best bet and you could incorporate your original roll bar into it...?
