Will the Rubber trim Melt?
charlierevell - 19/2/08 at 09:22 PM

Hey all, not played with this rubber trim stuff much and have just cut my new bonnet and trimed it up (Looks sooo much better than when i picked the car up with 3 holes in!)

Anyway, I have some spare and would like to tidy the hole around the manifold. Its just the normal flexible rubber (with a metal insert??)
It wont contact it, but will be close...
Will it melt and make a mess of the GRP side?

Thanks!

Good chance it will. Nicely sanded and shaped hole is way to go. You could make nicely shaped ali trim as an alternative idea.

avoneer had some around the manifold hole on his locoblade.

it had probably less than 15mm clearance and showed no signs of melting after a spirited track day or 3.

I have some on the front and rear edges of my silencer which has been on for 3 years . Hasn't melted yet.

I have the exhaust cut out in the bonnet trimmed with it and no more than 15mm clearance and it has not melted.
