Following some comments from here and there, as well as my boys I am not going with standard clamshells as I was going to change to. I hope to have
my first side done by the end of the week depending on the hours I end up working. Getting that vintage look back.

hhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............ehem well
that top pic, looks better as it’s quite similar to what you were doing before, although looks a tad skinny compared to the fat bum.
The bottom pic
Don’t know where that’s going, does it go with the rest of the car, nope don't think so
don't want to seem an interfering Mr Negative, but I suggest you print off quite a few copies of the bottom pic and have a bit of a doodle,
pencils and tipex etc, Rather than hack about with the car.
Let me see if I can put it in words...If I came across the car for the first time, at show for example and walking up to the car from the back
I'd have expected a front something like a Morgan. As I'd be going by the width of the back and thinking ahh it'll have a big curvy
front, heavy, enclosed and all streamlined (like the back) but then walk round to find a kind of gaping chasm filled with exposed running gear and
topped off with skinny wings which belong to something from the 1920's
Actually I'd have been expecting a front not much different to the jag below, but I think you could make one even prettier
Hope that’s been of some help

Hi,
I like to see it.
You have see tru the mess
It has his own look, so i'm building a seven-look-a-like but not every one has to.
I would try to make the clamshelves "thicker" the sharp edge is too much there. I like the nose-cone.
So keep up the good work.
BTW: I don't like jaguar's
Only the E-type V12 was quite funny.

Dale - Love your car. I only wish i had the skills to make mine look like that
take it that there is going to be a closing panel behind the front wheel?
I like it, a reasonable blend of old and new
knew everyone would disagree or think I was slagging of the styling of the front (which I'm not), all I'm saying is, does the front match
the back? you make your own minds.

Thanks for the comments, and
and the truth is you pick up more hints from the negative. A quick 5 minutes work before bed last night gave me this which is closer to my original
. I would still like to try extending the front of the wing down and around the wheel just about 4 to 6 inches- maybe more even .
This would give me a closer shape to my original and still be much much easier to make.
Don't slag Mr Whippy the comments help.

Got a picture from straight on as it's pretty difficult to mirror it...
Looking a lot better, though a return edge would stiffen it up and give the wing a more substantial feel.

here's a picture showing the return edge on a Falcons wing, it's easy to see how this adds to the strength (you could stand on the wing and
it would not give, no I haven't tried...)

I have a pic of a one off I think 56 alpha or Maserati that is a front that suits my liking . It is similar to where I am going but requires the
fender to follow the wheel around to midway between axle height and top of the tire. I will do a scan of it when I am home and post to show the
idea. Trying to find the mid point between what I am capable of doing and getting finished and what I would be perfect.
Thanks

^^^^ yeah - it is the front of the fenders and in particular how they join to the nose cone that is your challenge.
some more pictures i've found, not that I looked all that hard.
this one extends the fenders beyond the nose
this one doesn't
Finally have come up with the shape I think I will keep. I am liking it more than the orginal buck from way back. I would like to make the front
section back to the headlight mount attached to the nosecone/hood so that suspension inspection/work will be easier. The front is planned to be tilt
forward.
It still needs a bit of a piece made to fill in where the red paper is .
I will probably put a slight return on the side of the wheel arch as well to strengthen it.

where are the lights going?

Just right about where you show. I figure they may mount over top of the shock mount. I may not have to attach the front to the nose cone as a
closer look it looks like everything will fairly easy to check/work on with the fender covering it up.
Looks a bit like a fish or shark in that pic!
I think you moved the steering wheel to the wrong side
