oh man I'm knackered this weekend, been doing way too much, one of which is been cuttin lots of holes in the cars bonnet oops seems with some mad
vision I must of had after a few pints anyway its all looking weird and very modern art and now I have to rivet all those vents onto the bonnet
which I'm not looking forward too but I'll have to do something about it.
Simple question do I -
cheers
Rescued attachment the holly bonnet.jpg
You could always bond them in with sikaflex?
another one for bond them in place tiger seal or powerbond for me
Yep - I`m with the others , bond em in cuz duct tape falls off when it gets hot.....
Since you seem to have cut the holes out really neatly, I would say bond.
btw, have you got a really hot engine, to need all those louvres?
I say "use loads of rivets" just for the OTT rivet look!
Chris
If you rivet it your spacing and line-up will have to be VERY exact, else it will look amateur. I'd opt for some of that 3M bonding tape, if you
can get hold of some at a sensible price (it's normally very expensive).
Just make sure that you position the things correctly though, as the only way you'll get them apart once the tape's bonded is to destroy
them!
wow not the result I expected at all
hadn't even considered bonding them on, must look into this then
oh I really need these as the radiator intake is so large that the bonnet inflates and a 10mm gap appears at the scuttle end!
thanks for that useful advice
how are you going to make the louvres seem flush with the bonnet?? do you just use a bit of body filler over the edges, then paint it all??
imo, bond them cos rivets will make the bonnet look like the dogs dinner...
Structural adhesive and 2.5mm countersunk rivets in the corners - best of both worlds
Definitely bond them cos rivets will create drag and slow you down. Will also look crap. Cellotape is no good cos it's useless in the wet. Again why do you need so much cooling? Have you fitted a Beetle engine into a locost?

Well, I would have known what you meant even if this lot wouldn't!
I vote for glue. But bonding sounds so much more secure. Sikaflex - that takes a week to harden?
