How high do headlights have to be?

Just been having some thoughts and how high do the headlights have to be from the gorund for sva?

bottom edge minimum 500mm
top edge maximum 1200mm

I wouldn't fit them at the lowest 500mm just in case you adjust your suspension at some point. Always good to leave yourself a bit of space.

When the Rover 75 was being designed, BMW insisted that the lights were fitted really low. It stopped rover doing a lowered sporty version that might compete with the 3 series. It was only when the car was face lifted with new lights that the MG version could be made.

It's actually 500mm to the bottom of the "cut off" on the lens rather than the bottom of the light, so if you go 500mm to the bottom of the light you've automatically got a bit of space to play with.
