Rear Wheel arch stone guards
richardh - 18/6/08 at 07:42 PM

Folks,
my tango mnr looks a bit too orange and i could do with some guards for the rear arches. was thinking of vinyl but it wont last 5 mins. thought of polished ali but would look silly.

Anyone got any ideas where i can get something in carbon effect or black that can be formed, shaped and cut that will last...........

If you have a motorbike shop (like J&SAccessories) near you then they will sell you a piece of adhesive backed black vinyl type plastic.

It's what I used at first. They have carbon effect too, but that's just wrong...

aluminium etch primer, black paint.

yes, it will chip but if you are worried about that, don't drive it!

I think i am going to use ali painted black (many layers) with a plasticised laquer to help prevent chipping (dont ask me about the laquer yet as i havnt reasurched it)

Im thinking the same as you with my very orange MNR

got mine for Kermit with the kit

black carbon effect, same as interior
panels. I'm sure Chris & Marc can help!

I'm sure they'll last some time, but
screwed on I can change them if needed.

Make your own from "rally" mudflaps? You can get quite big ones from Halfords in blue, black, red, etc.

My advice is go big at the back and fit front mud flaps (unless you have the huge MNR arches).

Carbon ones on mine... (BUT, i dont think they do them anymore as they're flexible ones)

We're just about to fit some carbon fibre stoneguards to the rear arches of our Indy and the cost of them didn't break the bank.

Will post pictures and details of them when fitted and may even be able to start supplying them.
