A couple of questions im planning on doing a couple track days again in the next few months but im unsure of the db reading of my 205 im going to buy a db meter of ebay but do they use type a or b to test? And also i do not have a rev counter how will they determin my rpm to carry out the test? Will this be a issue?

Looking at my instructions I got from javelin for a track day on Monday its dBA range as for rev's think most noise testers know what 4500 rpm sounds like which is a general test level for a 4 cylinder 6500 red line, I would just say you will have to rev it to a level that they consider is acceptable, normal test is 0.5m from tail pipe at a 45 deg angle

Can't you down load a widgit from the marketplace ?

For your phone 'db meter'

For all you iphone & android phone users

Noise test will be at 3/4 max revs..... RPM will be needed, we had a broken RPM one trackday and used the multimeter to show a rough RPM

I have an Ebay db meter

It measures exactly the same level as the scrutineers meter at Goodwood, in my case to loud

If I switch from A to B it seems to make little difference, the needle is just a little more stable but the actual value is pretty constant.

My car was knocking out 103db BTW

Regards Mark

Tested the Android Widget beside a good quality commercial DB Meter and the difference was almost non existent, I guess noise is noise.
