
I was wondering if someone could advise me please on what carbs I should be using on a 2.0lt Pinto.
I was planning Weber twin 40's (which I haven't seen on ebay for less than £100-£150). But then a colleague of mine said that 45's would be better as
they're cheaper.
The engine will be standard, although maybe I'll look into uprating a little later, so it'd be nice to get something that I won't have to change if
and when it comes to modding.
Just to make you laugh: I'm also *slightly* interested in what sort of fuel economy I'll get out of each (ie. how much worse will it be with 45's over
40's over standard).

I copied this part from a pinto tuning guide ive got, May be some use. if u want i will e-mail you the document its quite short,
The standard twin choke Weber DGAV is a very good carb for even tuned road engines and 140 bhp is possible without changing it. The standard inlet
manifold is also good with good airflow and even mixture distribution to all cylinders. The next logical step is to fit twin DCOEs and these will give
between 12 and 15 bhp depending on the state of tune. 40s are fine for road engines up to about 150 bhp but above that 45s are a must and many race
engines run 48s although without showing any real gain over 45s in my opinion.
For ultimate power without losing low end torque, throttle body systems are the way to go. If your budget stretches to these then please have a look
at our system when the pics are posted to this site - shouldn't be too long now.

Stick with the TWIN CHOKE DGAV for the test.
You can worry about more power later,twin carbs like weber 40s 45s and 48s are not very emission test friendly.
If you do look for twin carbs and you find some 42s BUY them as they are like rocking horse shit,in good nick i can find a cash buyer.
Guess I can see why you didn't post all of it!
This doc' is great- I don't understand a lot of it but still damn interesting!
It mentions a website a couple of times- do you know what it is?

Not read the whole thread but Go bike carbs, same price if not cheaper. Same Power if not more, and definitely better driveability. 
I have a set of R6 carbs that I'd take 40 groats for, CV type carb so good bottom end and economy along with performance. Put them on a manifold
from FASTdan or make one yourself and your away! No harder than setting up emulsion tubes etc IMHO!
