Front Wings

Building a hillclimber and two things spring to mind about the front wings:

1) they produce lift (?)

2) I have to make fecking brackets which tend to break if not made properly

Can I leave them off? Helmet with visor will be worn at all times and single seaters get away with it (but they are sat in the middle). Any opinions?

Under msa rules, only single seater racing cars can run with open wheels (as well as some period defined cars).
Regulation C(b)-(h)
"With the exception of racing cars or cars of periods A to D be equipped on all wheels with mudguards which present no sharp edges and cover the complete wheel (flange+rim+tyre) around an arc of 120 degrees. This minimum coverage must:
(i) be achieved with a continuous surface of rigid material uninterrupted by any gaps, holes, slots or vents.
(ii) extend forward ahead of the axle line.
(iii) extend downwards behind the wheel to not more than 7.5cm. above the axle line."

Cheers, will have to check the Motorsport Ireland rule book to see if this applies the same, and also what the definition of a single seater is (if there is only one seat, and I weld in a few token bits of box where the "passenger" should be, I might then, by definition, have a "single seater"..........maybe)
