OT - Tintop paintwork
Does anybody here have experience of repairing paint scratch damage to tintop cars?
I'm trying to sell my Ford Focus and I'm sure I can get much more for it if I tidy it up a little. The interior is VVGC.
This is probably the worst scratch, and there are two 1 inch by 1 cm scratches to the front bumper too. What would be the best method of DIY repairing
these?

If it wasn't for the scratches on the bumper, I'd just look round the local scrappy for a mirror cover from another silver focus!
I've got a load of little dings and scratches on my Leon. Everytime I get one of the dent / paint / ding repair guys out to quote all they want
to do is paint the whole panel, rather than just touch up the scratch.
So I ended up just buying a touch up pen and doing it myself.

Are those the touch up pens available from halfords which come with the three different pens - primer, color and lacquer?
What kind of finish do they leave?
Thanks for the reply Mike

I bought some colour-matched paint in a rattle can from Halfords.
A quick sand, some plastic primer and a top coat should do the trick....

Cheers Ben,
Do you reckon theres such a thing as carpaintingophobia. If there is then I've got it.
I've got images of trying my best, stepping back once I've taken the masking tape off and seeing this:

The touch-up pens are OK for chips, I wouldn't want to use one on anything much larger.
Check your Ford main dealer (yes, really) before buying them from Halfords, I bought a set for my old Mondeo, the Ford kit was almost half the price
of the Halfords one. Pretty good colour match too
