Painting question
I am trying to paint my nosecone and rear arches with white TremClad/Rustoleum (North American names for it). It's enamel; I assume it's
like Hammerite. Looks good for a few minutes, then looks all spotty, and goes grey after a while. Was thinking of spraying with a proper spray gun,
and even bought one but haven't got the right attachments to use it yet. I had been using cans, but they just send blotches eventually, ruining
everything. Sanding makes it look worse, but does smooth it out. Waxing doesn't do anything but make it slippery!
So I got rid of the wax, and now I have very smooth, crap looking arches and nosecone.
Ideas welcome!
Also, my passenger seat will not bolt in! I can't go right to the floor because there is a bump in the bottom of the seat. I put a couple of
long wood pieces on the floor to raise it up a bit, but the holes and bolts, all measured, line up when NOT in the car, will simply not line up and
thread into the seat. The trouble is there isn't any room for your fingers to fiddle with the rearward bolts once the seat is near the right
spot. How is it done?

make an aluminium sub frame [not wood] back bolts in first,the wife's smallish hands come in useful [not that I know your wife]

if its going spotty i would say there is wax on the car you need to sand it down to remove the wax and you must use a etch primer on fiberglass or you
will have problems.going spotty can also happen if you didnt use etch primer

Thank you for those useful responses! Every bit of info helps a lot.
What could etch primer be called, besides "etch primer"? Because I have never seen anything like that here.

Update!
I decided to use my new HLVP sprayer and put a few coats on everything this weekend.
ADVICE: go slowly, and keep the pressure at least 40 psi on the compressor. If you go too fast with the strokes, it doesn't go on smoothly. go a
lot slower than with cans. I have a lot of sanding to do, but no runs, so that's a good thing.
And I got the passenger seat in. Needed slightly longer bolts. What a dummy, but there you go.
