would this be good for the floor
ive just been a demolition and reclaim yard and they have got 4-5 new sheets of what looks like galv steel about 1-1.5 mm thick and they are about a
meter square would this be any good for the 7 floor?

yes; beware that welding galvanised steel is very bad for your health - its the zinc.

think you'd pay a lot more for new steel from somewhere like metal supermarkets. sounds like a good deal to me

1 to 1.6mm won't be too heavy, it's what was recommended in the original book.
Beware of the 'boing' effect though
£4.50 per m^2 is cheap.
