Grabercars bodywork concept
I've moved on from chassis to bodywork.
Please let me know if you like the format of the gallery. It's something new I am trying.

great design
not so sure about the page/gallery design though, seems a little cluttered.
maybe put the voting inside the image page?

Agreed. The voting seup is ridiculous. It really does clutter up the page. I'll have to figure out a way to customize that to go on the large
images like you suggest.
Thanks.

Yeah, the voting is strange. It would make sense if you had pictures of different cars---maybe! There's got to be a way to turn it off.
Your artwork is fantastic and so is the car, really first rate.
My $0.00002, just a reaction and not a real recommendation, is that a rounded-off front end might look good, like on an early Corvette or an Audi TT,
with headlights still as you have them. This may be complete garbage, as was my suggestion on a backward-slanting grill was the other day (can see
now that it would look like crap).

Reminds me of a shorter, topless Tommy Kaira ZZII. The lines are nice and smooth, but there are no bold statements.
If your intention is a subtle sleek looking skin, then you nailed it!

Well thanks. I hope that the shape is not too generic. I fear that it isn't evoking some type of emotion in people. I would hate to spend all
my time and energy designing/building a shape that people simply say, ho-hum- sleek lines, yawn... Looks ok... Nothing much to say about it tho....
Should I spice it up a bit? or stay the course... is it pretty and I am being paranoid?
And I'm not talking just about the quality of the rendering. (It's interesting that more of you have asked about what software I am using
than commented about the design.) The shape, the shape!
More renders showing the rear of the car coming soon! Rear ends are tough!

If I were building it (which I'm not) I would go 1 of 2 ways:
1-Make the fender flares a bit more aggressive and lines a bit bolder, so that there's no question that it's a unique vehicle.
-or-
2-Make the body style very very subtle - tone down the curves so that it blends in, that is until you hit the throttle...

I'm a bit skeptical as to whether those headlights are going to work out, and suggest that you pick out some actual lighting hardware and plan
around it. That'll give more life to the front end, I think.
IMO, all the most elegant car designs are very functional, and I think you'd be doing a disservice by putting a bunch of swoopy sh*t and cutouts
on it for 'effect'. By Jove, I think you've got it on the sides
And, yes, you're going to have no shortage of folks saying, "What the hell is THAT?" when you go zipping by.

Steve,
I like the overall look, but!
Here it comes!
I don't like the horizontal flat area at the front above the radiator intake.
Could you do something with that?
From the side the front bumper/spoiler looks like a bolt on accessory from the "go faster brigade", but then I don't like vertical
panels anyway!
I think that the light covers could be smoother ovals instead of having the flat at top and bottom. The car has lots of straight lines and sharp edges
and doesn't need any more.
All in my humblest of opinions of coarse and may well look horrible with my suggestions!

You're right about the headlights. It's not that they wouldn't fit that shape. However, I did a little preliminary
modeling/interference check with the dimensions of the Hella projectors (Like Alan has) and they will fit inside that shape, but the shape is ugly.
Fugly actually, if you combine the two words...
It's interesting your comments about the front fender Terry. Same you Pete. I am very dissatissfied with the front of the car. My wife commented
that it looked like the car had hit a mattress... Soooo. That must change. Although I'm not sure about rounding the front out like an early
Vette Pete... I can certainly give it a try as I have nothing to lose except time, which is free really.
Moving to the back. What do you think about this taillight? They are off the new Dodge Durango 2004 and I am thinking about rotating them 90d and
placing them similar in position to the Enzo.

The Dodge lights look terrific, and good luck to anyone trying to figure out where they came from!
I'm with Terry as far as not feeling bad if you discard my suggestions. Money talks and BS walks

Try sticking a reverse vent on the hood to break up some of the blandness...
It doesn't have to be a Elise copy, maybe something a little more aggressive, like Speed 12 or Marcos Manta style.

Steve,
Rear lights look Ok, but problem with rotating them will be the visible angle.
Most vehicle lights are designed to have a small vertical visible range and a wide horizontal range. When rotated by 90 degrees low flying aircraft
will be able to se you, but someone in the next lane might not.
Then again this could be utter tosh!

You know Terry, I thought about that for a minute, but then it occurred to me that there are some major benefits to using these lights rotated like
they would be.
My car will be exceptionally low compared to a lot of the traffic on the roads here in the US. If the light beam is extended in the vertical
direction, it can only help provide greater visibility to those soccer moms driving the 'SuperSUV' and talking on the phone... So since
there will actually be more light extending upwards than usual, this is a good thing IMHO.
I agree that side visibility will be reduced since the lights shown above are also used as the side marker lights. I'll have to add a pair of
additional side-marker lights for the side-traffic.

this one off your site is the angle i like best personally, though the inlet is maybe too big.

i would start with this and then merge a few themes from this one, ie more abrupt front and lower mouth:

i might point out, i dont think the porsche is a pretty car, just that it has interesting lines...
