Advice please on attaching rear arches!
Before I commit myself and glue and bolt the rear arches on, I thought a question to the forum may not be a bad thing.
Fibre glass rear arches and aluminium body panels. I was planning to use m6 bolts/screws with large washers spaced aprox 5 or 6 inches apart and
sikaflex around the outer edgesof the flange to prevent water ingress between the surfaces of fibre glass and aluminium.
Is sikaflex too much, should I suse a standard sealent so I can seperate them if required?
What methods have you used to secure your wings?
Cheers

Use a strip of "P" rubber, available from CBS

I just used the normal tadpole trim at the joint and bolted it like you suggest. No problems so far...

That's what I did but using silicon sealer, the correct way is rubber extrusion, the stuff that looks like a 'P' in cross
section.
If you just want to seal but not stick then cover the wing in celophane, attach/bolt and seal as usual with silicon, remove when cured, peel off the
celophane you will now have a perfect seal.
