wiper problems continued

The angle between the wiper box and the windscreen is not 90 degrees, so the wipers don't wipe properly, even by hand.

I am not entirely sure my motor is strong enough, although things have been greased plenty. Although I have been told lots of things will work, I am not going to get this, so what do I need to get wipers? I am prepared to go to CBS or somebody to get the right setup. This isn't cutting it and these are required where I live.

I have built a Luego and the wiper spindle is not at 90 degrees either. I used a Mini wiper motor and although they are slow on the dry glass they work well when the glass is wet.

Is it possible I have a 14v motor, and of course, my car is 12 volts? If so, what do I do?

All this is a bit difficult, since I've never seen working wipers on a 7 style car.

It is possible to get the mounting bosses for the wiper spindles that are made at different angles IIRC so you may be able to get the spindles nearer 90 degrees? Have you tried the wipers with the engine running and the alternator charging as that could make a large difference?

You could try replacing the springs in the wiper arms that hold the blade against the screen or bending the arm slightly to reduce the pressure of the blade on the screen, sounds like there's too much drag going on.

Certainly worth making sure the battery is tickety boo.

Batt is good and charges at 14v like it's supposed to. One gauge that works is the voltmeter (VDO).

I am going to try to fiddle with the arms some more: lengthen them and bend them about and see if that helps. I may need new boxes, but we'll see. I have nothing to lose by continuing.

This is one of the mysteries of building a car. Nobody seems to see why I have all these problems. Pretty much every single step has been a problem, and the closer to the end I get, the frustration never goes away, because new problems are introduced.

It's all in pieces because now the spindles have stripped, so the nut doesn't go on anymore. Pictures would have helped about 4 hours into yesterday's attempts, but not now.

The mini wiper set I bought for my magenta were very stiff to operate and I also stripped the threads when I was attempting to clean them. I searched ebay and found the mini replacements were expensive. I eventualy found some on ebay that looked the same but were not listed for a mini, can't remember what they were for, so as they were only 99p start I started to bid I won a new pair for £4.25. When they arrived the only difference was the threaded mounting spindles were longer which was a benifit as I had to use longer angled spacers to get the angle right. Stick with it you'll get there in the end
