Plastic Adhesion Primer - flat or not?
I've just sprayed some plastic adhesion primer out of an aerosol onto my bumper skirt. The result looks a little less than flat, though
I'll wait till it dries to see if it looks better. Do I flat this before painting or will it remove the adhesion if I sand through? Am I
better spraying on a filler primer on top and flatting this?

depends how lumpy it is when its dry. it is a bit of a bugger to get decent finishes with aerosol. will you be using aerosol for the filler primer if
you choose to go that rout? if so I'd stick with the PAP as a base coat and flat it back gently. personally i have been doing rolling repairs on
all 4 corners of my mums BMW for the past 5 years (she has a very narrow, curved drive drive with sandstone walls, just low enough so as not to be
able to see them over her bonnet) and havent used PAP once and never had a problem with paint adhesion.

I used the PAP in a can beacuse when I sprayed the primer on yesterday it all cracked and shrunk. I spent most of this evening sanding it all back
off again. The top coat will be done with my spray gun, I just happened to have a can of PAP.

sounds like a bit of a dodgy reaction between primer and plastic, what primer did you use and how much did you thin it down by?
sounds like the PAP will solve it though. it should be no different to flat than normal filler primer, are you going to use a contrast dust coat to
get it properly flat?

Adhesion Promoter.
It looks like the stuff I talked about on other thread.
This stuff is so good that you really need very little to get results, if you overspray you end up with the problem you have now.
Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....

The PAP has stuck, except for 1 or two spots which are completely free of it. It has dried much more flat than it looked last night too. A quick
once over with 600 grit should give a nice surface to paint onto.
