Small Compressor or Turbine HVLP
I'm creating a separate thread for this since it might get lost in the other one.
Aldi this weekend are doing a small compressor, 24litre, 2.5hp, 8bar, 9.58cfm (doesn't say if that's idle flow) for 80 quid.
I'd been planning to get one of the Apollo Spraymate HVLP turbine systems (90 quid) for spraying my wings, bonnet etc since I want to have a go
but won't be spraying etc enough to justify an expensive compressor.
The question is, will the above compressor, coupled with a cheap gravity gun be better for spraying small items like bonnet/wings than the HVLP
solution? I'd assume I'd need the regulator/filter as well for 18 quid.
Bear in mind this is for a complete novice sprayer if that makes a difference.

Comparing a cheap airline spray gun and undersized compressor with hobby HVLP I think you would find the hobby HVLP easier to use, I have two cheap
HVLP system one I use only for car work the other for the domestic/garden stuff. This type of system enables you to spray very thin coats with almost
no overspray ---- I would recommend an Earlex system and make sure you get the correct nozzle.
I wouldn't like to paint a whole tintop with it but for painting just a single panel or a blended in repair the HVLP is better than any of the
airline spray guns I have.

My compressor is smaller than that and it does just fine for small paint jobs. I sometimes stop and wait for a few seconds to let the compressor
charge up if putting spray filler on a big panel but I've never had the pressure drop because the compressor can't keep up.
