Your views on my bonnet
Morning everyone.
I converted from pinto to zetec in the winter and now i'm growing tired of the air filter hole in the bonnet. I am thinking about options on
filling the hole.
Options as far as i can think:
1. buy new bonnet from tiger (£££££'s)
2. fill hole then have car painted £££'s???
3. fill hole and cover bonnet with carbon effect vinyl
4. cut hole symetrical the other side and mesh both holes
or
5. cover hole with some sort of scoop (not keen on this idea)
Comments, suggestions and ideas welcome.
Also to be as 'locost' as possible

I vote 4 (mesh vents) as long as they wouldn't look to out of place. Otherwise, how about an ali "patch" rivetted on, i.e.
deliberately contrasting with the rest of the bonnet?

Cant figure out how to get photos off my blackberry (never had one before).
It's basically a normal bonnet with a K&N size hole in it

I did the same a few years back and bought a new bonnet from Tiger. My car was Orange and the match was pretty close.
You wouldn't really have noticed the difference if you didn't know, but I did leave the new bonnet in the sun in the back garden to
weather it so that it was the same.
Depends what colour yours is and how old the original body is as to how bad it has weathered.

Not really used it much to be honest but when i do it's usually (but not always) nice weather so sunlight...which fades stuff.
Just out of interest how much did you pay for your bonnet (if i'm not being too cheeky)

I filled the filter hole in my bonnet this weekend - took 2 hours to do. Very easy, I just bought one of those fibreglass kits from Halfords, taped
some card over the outside of the hole and filled from the inside with 2 layers of mat. With a bit of filler it will not be noticable.
Still leaves the painting problem, but how hard can it be? (I have a feeling I'll find out EXACTLY how hard it is in a couple of weeks
time...)

my vote on a small vent in carbon look colour or black.
made from fibre glass.
good fun and will look good.

option 4 as i did a similar thing, i extended the hole across he whole of the bonnet to allow a lot of air out, also handy as it is directly over the
exhaust which when stationary in traffic can do nothing but good in letting all the heat out

Honest answer is I can't remember as it was a few years ago, but it was whatever Tiger charge for just a bonnet, which is around £100 I
think.
For me, I would rather choose where the holes go to make it look nice and I had already made a cover for the old exhaust outlet.
I felt that there would be so many holes being made to look like they should be there that it just doesn't work.
For me I would have always known why the hole was there so it had to be filled one way or another - depends on your view?

similar problem here. I put that rubber trim around the hole, which changes the look completely. Can't have too many vents can you?

Cut a bit of ally, rivet it over the hole - wherever it is - job done.
Must it be any more complicated ?
