Arrrgghhh! Rear Arches

Finally got some garage time today and went to fit the new rear arches to the Indy.

I'd bought a pair of brand new arches from MNR, at £100 and picked them up a week ago. The quality is superb.

So un-wrapped the first one, made up a template and carefully drilled out the mounting holes in the inner flange.

Offered it up to the Indy, secured the arch, fitted the tadpole trim and stood back to admire my work. Looks great

Re-fit the rear wheel. Damn. The rear wheel is lost in the arch.

Get the tape measure out, and the old MK arches are 28cm / 11" wide. The new MNR ones are 33cm or 13" wide.

So my existing wheels look lost in there, added to the fact that the car is now potentially 4" wider, making it even harder to get in and out of the yard.

So, do I sell the arches, and buy a set from MK, or get a massive pair of deep dish alloys and wide tyres? Trouble with new wheels is that my current set were power coated a special colour, so I'll struggle to get a new set to match, or I'll have to get the fronts done again!!

Mike

The obvious answer, the only one that makes any sense, is to get massively wide wheels and tyres. You will then end up with an even cooler looking, better handling, car.

Didn't realise they did 2 widths. I'll ring them on Monday, but I doubt they'll take them back now I've drilled a set of holes in the flange of one of them!

Steve, the brolly has gone it is no more I'm magic, just never have any time to play at the minute, the joys of being self (un)employed.

Can't help thinking that bigger wheels will end up something like this:-
