fibre glass side panels

Hi guys,

i have fibre glass side panels on my striker that have been riveted along all the chassis frame bits. Is this going to be alright for an IVA? I've read a few posts saying that the tranny tunnel cover will fail if it's riveted, wasn't sure if it's the same on the outside/

cheers,
andy

Rivets will not fail, inside or out, just run your fingers over them, if it feels rough or sharp, smooth them off.
Inside you can cover with yoga mat and vynl

Really? i'm sure there was a thread somewhere about failing an IVA because of rivets on the tranny tunnel, had to remove them and velcro it instead...

I think the transmission tunnel issue isn't so much about the actual fixing of the panels, but the ability to inspect the transmission tunnel.

The trans tunnel in my tin top isn't velcro'd

But i would imagine you can inspect your prop from underneath. I think this IVA problem would probably occur if you have a one peice floor (covering both sides and tranny tunnel) and a perminantly fixed tranny tunnel top, ie no way to inspect the prop.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Just like my MG Midget has - but it has a couple of small inspection panels which should satisfy the man. Having said that, I velcro'd the tunnel top on my Indy (mainly because it was really quick and easy to do).
