how many rivets
I am just about to order the rivets for my build. If I am leaving a 2 inch gap between each rivet on the floor pan, how many rivets will I need? Plus
extras for fitting the panels on etc

I put about 250 in the floor, and have used about another 150 elsewhere.

I bought 500 from screwfix, I have about 25 left! and my floor is welded

I have used just shy of 1000 to almost completion.
Pat...

I bought a box of 1000 and am placing them at 2 inch centres. Does anyone think that 1 inch centres are justified for body panels? My floor is welded
or I'd probably have used 1 inch spacing for it.

Incidentally, if you use the rivets from screwfix on the floor, your chassis will fill with water, they are NOT waterproof rivets, for the floor you
should use "closed" rivets. I double checked this with Ian Gray at Stuart Taylor motorsport and he confirmed that all his
"factory" cars use closed rivets and when non closed ones had been used, if you drill a hole in the lower parts of the chassis a year
later you will get a trickle of rusty water coming out!
I used around 200 5mm closed end rivets on my floorpans the other night.

that does not sound a good thing to happen, in that case does anyone have a good link to find a box of closed rivets?
Would not want the car rusting from the inside out!

Maybe some would say I have gone alittle over the top but I reckon by the time I'm finished I will have used almost 2000 rivets.....
(there are over 250 holding my seat back in place and almost 90 on my battery tray)
but then I am treating the panels as structural components and purely using high quality aircraft standard structural rivets....
If your floor is not welded i would suggest that reducing the pitch would be a good idea I'm using a staggered row of 4.8mm rivets at 30mm
spacing for the floor. and some form of closed rivet is a must (you could just seal them with silicone sealant?)

What brand/type
I need to buy my rivets as well. I'm currently thinking of using the CherryMax or (preferably) Cherry Q. The Cherry Q cost 1/4th the Cherry
Max.
Am I going way over the top here? Are you folk using regular, non structural rivets?

your chassis will fill with water
They will be facing down so it will get back out . How will it fill up with water unless you totally immerse it. The rivets I got were breakstem and
they block the hole as they leave the ball in the rivet. I welded my floor and only used a rivet every 100mm on side and rear panels as I think of
them as a covering for the chassis tubes. Fasten the floor on with stainless self tappers if you're worried about rivets.
