rivets and painting.

Quick question, when fitting ally side panels is it better to paint first then rivet, or rivet then paint? Just wondered if the rivet heads would cause any issues with paint cracking etc?

Cheers
Steve

I rivited then painted mine, the paint has not cracked around the rivits.

Pay extra attention when sanding around the rivits, then wipe down with thinners.

Paint very quickly after rub down, literally minutes as the ali will start to oxidise in free air, use a decent etch primer, U-Pol acid etch #8 as the first primer.

If you paint then rivit you will end up having to touch in all the rivits afterwards, not fun.

Regards Mark
