Front cycle wing mudflaps?

Took the car out today, first run for almost 12 months following an overhaul. Part of this was to remove my permanently fastened half doors, and run the car without anything at all - not the best of ideas this.... got home to find the car full of road stones and other sh... .

I have already extended the drops on the front wings to act as mud flaps, but this seems to be not enough, what distance do you run from bottom of your wings to road, all I can think of now is to either refit the half doors and hinge them this time, or extend further the mudflap / wing extensions....

Ideas??

Hi I have gone down the mud flap route
Fitted the cycle wings as far back asi can and used some offhand clear plastic of a walk in fridge to extend them down. Would prefer to get some black later but defiantly solves the problem of getting a soggy elbow in the wet

Furry dice would be a nice touch

I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.

Steve,

Vettel does not drive his car on the lanes I used yesterday, because if he did, Mr Newey would be quite upset at him adding 3kgs of road stones to his car .....

The rain is not such an issue, as you expect to get wet in a 7 with no roof or doors, it's the stones and grit that's thrown up from the front wheels I need to stop and a reason my half doors were fitted in the first place, going to look at trying to fit poppers this time , I guess this is also a reason the American market demanded 'clamshell' wings instead of cycle wings on 7's.

I have to agree, the stones are the biggest surprise to the locost experience. You need a broom on board, as well as the obligatory holes in the floor.

I've got to add some of those flaps to mine, but nervous about cutting into the Carbon, which of course, cost a fortune. I think those flaps must be quite near the ground to actually work, from what I can see, so watch that.

But let's face it: one has to dress as if he were going on a motorbike, and put up with these sorts of things.

Added black cut down mud flaps from halfords best "ripspeed" rubbish.. Work so well I have not got stone chip protectors on the rear wings... Great in the spray on the motorway, without it's a total PITA!

Note, they don't look so bad, but without the car will not get used! I built the car to use it not look at!

Cheers

Well at the moment I have this

That is 3 inches from the ground and was made from some old cycle wings I had lying around, not sure whether to remove this and fit a conventional type mudflap or add stuff to what I already have ?. Maybe it does not help that the profile is rounded at the bottom either?.

Agreed Dan, not to worried what it looks like as long as they work.

You can buy this sort of stuff: JJC Rally Mud Flap Material 4mm MSA Spec Blue | eBay

Its flexible so you can pretty much have it touching the floor. Works well on sevens.
