Blacking up!
Next job on refurbishing my quantum is sorting out the poor paint finish on the windscreen frame / mounts and the rear roll hoop.
They have both been hand painted in chassis black and it is a really uneven finish.
I have just gone to take it all off to take it away and get it blasted back to bare metal and powder coated satin black. Only to find the roll hoop is
part of the chassis and doesn't come off. Balls. Can't go in the oven anymore.
This means that I need to find a better way of getting all the paint off, restoring the metal to flat and applying a tough satin black finish.
I am guessing that conventional blasting is out unless I want the car and boot full of media. Suggestions? Dry ice blasting or some other forms of
abrasion?
I don't want to paint it with rattle cans diy style because it is too cold and will probably not come out that well. So probably take it to a
professional to mask off and paint. But with what? Chances of the painter doing the whole lot in one job. If so anyone in the huntingdon or Bedford
area who comes recommended?
Appreciate any thoughts?

Big wire cup in an angle grinder will take the roll bar back to bare metal in minuets.

If its not rusty just flatten it off and take it to get painted?
Sure they will give it a good finish.

I remembered I have one of these kicking around:

That would probably do the roll hoop?
So if I got that back to flat what should I use to get it painted with a tough finish? I guess I want something tougher than whatever the modern
equivalent of cellulose is. Can't be powder coat because I can't heat the whole car.
I then just need to get the window surround blasted as it is all sorts of awkward shapes and has had sealant on it that needs to be completely removed
before painting.
