Best filler
here's one that Alan B might be able to answer (although he probably uses US materials)...
I want to make minor alterations to the sides of my nosecone - small ridges, etc. - but I don't want to use glassfibre cloth as the areas will be far
too small.
I also don't want to use Halford's best body filler (P35?) as I've always found that to be very brittle.
Anyone got any suggestions for a good filler that can hold its shape while it's hardening, and isn't too hard to sand afterwards?

P.S. I've already decided that the nose needs painting, so I'm not worried about that aspect!

David,
I think I'd look at glass cords, a bit like string. You could then use filler on top of them. Body filler is only polyester resin but with filler
powders (talc etc.)in it rather than glass reinforcement, so some glass cords should stregthen it OK.
Just IMO, not tried it myself.

plastic padding type elastic - also in halfords - is nice and flexy.
P38 is made in sunny wellingborough just down the road from me.

Try your local paint shop supplier. A very large tin will cost about a tenner. Halfords are twice the price for a tin a quarter the size.

Wow
thats a bit like sitting an exam at school!
So that would make a 10 quid tin 80 quid at halfords!

Hey Steve, thought those sums would be easy for you, if you can work out the correct dimensions from the book then that should be a piece of piss.

Halfords do a 'new' fiberglass filler called Fibral. It is similar to ordinary fiberglass filler, except that you can actually sand it by hand! its
also very smooth, and will be very resistant to cracking.

You mean you TRIED to follow the book?
I built up the bottom and top 'planes' of the chassis, make a couple uprights to suit, and then made up tubes to match as I built it. Didnt even
look at the cutting list.
And the car seems to have worked out fine.
