What paint?
I'm just about to paint my refurbished F27 (locost). I used two-pack epoxy for the chassis. Can anyone tell me where I can get two-pack from,
ideally in the colour I want, at reasonable cost. Or would you not use two pack, if not why (apart from the fumes aspect), and what would you use and
where from?
That's about it for the questions.

I guess it depends what colour you want to decide where you can get it from in the location you need at the price you want.
Most towns will have bodyshop supplies that will have a huge selection of colour charts and can mix it up to your spec. If anything there are too many
choices. You can also go for fancy metallics and lacquers. They will be able to advise the best type of paint and primer for your car. I think prices
for base coat will range from only £15/l to several hundreds.
Theres not much bodywork on any se7en so it may be worth getting a quote from a bodyshop, you could even offer to put there name or web address on the
bottom of rear panel (eg) for a discount. Some bodyshops may be able to do it as a fill in job to save some cost. When i rebuilt my Mk1 Golf i also
approached the local college - sold car in the end but they promised a top job just couldnt specify time.

ask mark allanson - he works in a body shop and knows all this stuff.
he told me that if you use 2 pack isocyanate without breathing gear, it will stop you breathing. cos it knackers the nerves that make you breathe, and
tell you that you cant breathe, you just pass out and die witout knowing you had stopped breathing.
nice.
I wouldnt contemplate isocyanate 2 pack unless i wanted to die or had the right gear.
I think acrylic was suggested as the best home option....

there may be no such thing as a cheap paint job....... i got a quote of 350 just to do a bike, and when i queried it with mark, i was told thats about
right.
when i tried to get my metro turbo painted 8 years ago, most local bodyshops wouldnt touch it unless they could do all the prepping and undercoating,
as they couldnt promise the result if they didnt.
ended up doing it myself in the end.....

Must agree with Steve re 2 pack,nasty stuff and cumalative I believe,I'd go for cellulose.

Safest and best bet would be a polyester basecoat followed by a single pack lacquer.
If you want your posting total to stay in single figures - use 2K
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
