Grill mesh size

The mesh I have on mine it about 1 inch square grid which got me thinking on whether that will let through too large chunks of debris/insects/small mammals to smash into the radiator?

Too large or should I go smaller, 1 cm square?

The readiator sits against the engine and there is some protection from inboard shocks

What is the mesh size on factory built cars or supplied by kit makers? (caterham, westfiled etc)

I used to have a Westfield (c. 1990 vintage) and from memory it had 3/4" to 1" squares. On the ST I have c. 1cm squares - if a bit of gravel goes through it might not be too bad, but a stone big enough to go through a 1" square could cause some damage.

Just my opinion ;D

I got 1cm squares, got it from the Ebay, FAR cheaper than the bling shops.

search for stainless mesh, mine was about £7.

all the watercooled bikes I've had have had a diamond mesh that's maybe 15mm/10mm across the long/short diagonals.

I've always used the mesh sheets with the openings pressed into the ali sheet. So probably like the diamond effect as described above. Never had any problems with cooling.
