Stainless steel

I quite fancy doing the side panels, rear panel and bonnet of my Lowcost in stainless steel, buying a ready made bonnet and making the rest. How difficult is it for a novice to fabricate stainless steel without damaging it, and what suppliers sell stainless bonnets please?

From my experience, bloody hard!

With regards to a bonnet, you would have to find a specialist I think, I've never heard of one, but you never know, I could be wrong!

stainless steel is an extremely hard metal.

I made most of my panels from 2mm alu and that was impossible to bend without heat treating it with a blow torch.

that technique wont work with stainless.

just get a small section of stainless and see if you can bend it. you wont.

People have problems bending the rear boot walls from 1.2mm alu - your task will be impossible.

Robin hood engineering used to do a stainless bonnet, and sides to fit a locost, give em a ring.........may still do em, whatever else is said, and i agree with a lot of it, there stainless products, the last time i saw them was 1st class.
