my silencer is about 1" from the body side,as u would expect the fiberglass is getting rather hot,should i put a peice of ally sheet on the body side or a cover all round the silencer?

Hi. If you go for the ally sheet how
about a sheet of 1mm NAF (non asbestos
fibre gasket) between the ally and the
fibreglass to act as a heat barrier. Cut it
smaller so it dosn't show.

Try a boiler spares shop, someone like Curzon Components (Twickers) , anglonordic (Molesy) or Control center (???) They do a ceramic paper about 1mm thick or ceramic heat pad material 5 to 8mm thick. Let your fingers do the walking.
