Nosecones and Pintos - common problem?
I have a standard book chassis, with a 1.6 Pinto fitted, and I'm getting to fitting radiator/nosecone.
Recently bought a used nosecone, and I dont know where it originally came from.
Problem- the nosecone sits on ok, but just fouls the top flywheel on the engine.
So, is this a common problem? Options too horrible to think - engine mounted too high, non standard nosecone, aaarrrggghh!

OOps!
Someone should have pointed this out to you before.
Have you chopped the sump?
Even with the sump chopped it's high, you need more height in the chassis (bit late for that now) or a higher nosecone or a bulge ala Tiger.
Look at the front of the Tiger kits, you'll see what I mean.
How does the height of the scuttle compare with the top of the rocker cover?
Cheers
Chris
Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

I have a similar problem with a book chassis, MK nosecone and Zetec. The plan at the moment is to raise the nosecone by adding two lengths of 25mm rhs
to the chassis top rails for the length of the nosecone. This allows enough room to get the engine in and the 20mm of chassis protruding below the
nose will be obscured by the number plate. I plan to make the bonnet deeper accordingly however if you plan to use a bought bonnet it would be easier
to add RHS from the front of the chassis to the rear of the scuttle.
Good luck Mick

Never mind the width.... what about the depth!!??
Thanks! maybe not as fatal a problem as I thought.........
Further thought - if you use RHS as spacer under the nosecone, but a deeper bonnet, were you going to have a deeper sidepanel at the front to hide the
RHS?
Hmmmm....

eh? you cut the flat bit off the pulley?
the verticle bit at the back? I suppose you're right, you only need a smaller lip that stops the belt teeth falling off the back, just sounds a
bit yeeeehaaaaa!!
I like it!!
And less dicking about with bodywork...
Do you have photos? would be mucho appreciated
