Overlapping sheets

How can i make a lip in 2mm steel to overlap another sheet?
If no-one knows how to do it with 2mm steel i could (plan B) do it with .8mm ali.

Can you get your hands on a joggle tool. This would allow you to joggle the one plate and then overlap the other one so that it is flush.

SOmething like the attached pic.

As above but 2mm seems hard going. Why are you willing to go from 2mm steel to 0.8mm aluminum?! What’s the 2mm for then??

Its for the back panel. I need to secure it round the tranny tunnel. I couldnt make tabs on the panel itself as it wouldnt drop over the the tunnel.

not for the tunnel, the back panel (behind the seats). I was a bit worried the ali would be too thin for that.

I've used 1.2 ally to panel the interior (including rear bulkhead) and TBH it's thicker than necessary. I'd do it with 0.8 or 1.0 next time.

2.0mm steel sheet is bordering on armour plated

I used 1.5 or 1.6mm ali - that was more than sufficient, and quite a bit of work!

as above, steel is simply not needed, far less 2mm. Plastic sheet would be more than sufficient as has been used by some.
