Why spend good money making a non-expensive car look like another non-expensive car? People make MR2's look like Ferrari's because the
latter are rare and expensive. Elises are not (relatively speaking).
Utterly pointless in my opinion. Spend the money you would spend developing an Elise body kit on an Elise!

Wrong...... just wrong. An MR2 will never look like a Ferrari, just as an MGF will never look like a Lotus Elise. Unless your vision is
impaired.........

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Th only people who are impressed by elises are other people with elises (like me!).
If you made an mgf look like an elise, all hat would happen is you'd see a lot of lotus's show you their rear end while leaving you for
dead.
An elise S1 can be had for £7k these days, is fairly cheap to insure, infinately better performnce and handling and also better economy than an MGF.
Stretch the budget a bit further to an S2 and things just get better.

I think in principle it would be very difficult as the elise chassis is very different - I think a lot of parallels are drawn between the elise and
mgf when in fact the only thing they actually have in common is the K-Series engine.
If you were to manage a conversion, you could at least do something about allowing access for easy maintenance - it was a 2 day job to take apart the
entire front end of my S2 just to replace the rad fan and the skin is only just growing back on my arms from my recent experience of changing the
alternator...

Mid-engined or not, the MGF, MR2 and Elise are very different cars. But if you're interested in a build-it-yourself job, go the whole hog: you
have loads more options.
There'd still be an incentive: Elise is a perfectly good name, whatever you build...

I would personally prefer an Elise, but if you insisted on changing and MGF into something more interesting-looking, how about the Blaze
F
I s'pose it would presumably still go and handle like an MGF, though

I keep wondering (and even had an ebay hunt) about taking an MGF, losing the screen, adding a cage, removing the seats, moving the ecu so i can sit
lower and maybe welding up the doors.
Not sure why or what it would look like ...... just thinking fun, relatively simple mid engined summer car.

There is of course an alternative body available for the MGF
I'm not keen on the Elise either, what a miserable old sod I am
Cheers

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

I made some panels and made a sierra look like a lotus 7!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

I had the same thoughts about my elise, but then lotus did the 2 Eleven and now I can see my idea was a good one (but I can't afford one yet...)
