cycle wing adhesive
Hi,
ive had a look through and cant find the post i saw previously regarding cycle wing adhesive - does anybody recommend a glue to stick the cycle wings
to the stays? Obviously it needs to be good as i dont have a windscreen and may come keen if the thing comes off! hopefully my stays will hold too
once they have been strengthened / welded back together!

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

If you want to bolt them on then have a look at some Citroen C5 bonnet slam panel securing bolts. Like a large button headed bolt but the head
isn't very thick. My original cycle wings were stuck on with Sikaflex to some strips of 3mm mild steel with a stud that bolted to the wing stays
. Had no problems doing it this way until I replace them with some Carbon Mods wings which promptly flew off at 70MPH on the A14

Mine are sikaflexed on, they lasted quite a long time before it started to come off. Second time around I sandwiched the wing stay between the wing,
and a sheet of aluminium with sikaflex holding it together, the more surface area the better imo.

when you come to fixing it - get a wire brush for the drill - roughen up the inside of the arch on the fibreglass bit - and the stay - take it to the
bare metal.. slap loads on.. bung the arch on and gaffer tape it into the right position. then smooth loads more over the edges under the arch.. leave
for minimum of 24 hours in a warm garage - or longer if colder.. failure to leave it will seriously weaken it.. trust me - this way works great.. took
me ages to get the arches off when i made some new ones.. cursed the stuff but it works good!
