How to test paint hardness / durability?
My mrs had the side of her car painted by an insurance approved workshop last November after a 'misshap'.
I have noticed lots of bits of paint missing as a result of other peoples car doors resting against hers whilst people get in/out resulting in their
car door 'rubbing' up and down hers.
One instance was my car, I opened my door and rested it on hers, I then got I'm my boot and out again and noticed it had completely removed the
coloured paint leaving the primer exposed.
I need to know whether paint can not go off properly or something before I go complaining about it to the paint shop.
Any thoughts?

Don't know but we have the same problem. Felt this was due to not being able to put the shell in an oven, but I guess it's really poor
application of the paint (as above)..

The area should have been "baked" locally using heaters, but it's never going to be production quality. That said, it sounds poor
quality if it's marking that easily.

Sounds way too soft to me. Could the primer not have gone off before they applied the colour? I think in the trade theres a machine thing to test
paint. This new water based paint is crap aswell.
Isnt mark allansson (spelling) into bodywork and paint things? maybe worth a u2u to him?

i know it does sound a bit soft - but why were you risking damaging the paint in the first place? surely it would be better to just avoid it?

If you can put up a couple of photos, I can judge what the problem and advise how to get it sorted
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
