Powder Coating
I did a quick search but couldn't find anything about powder coating. Basically i have some components that i'd like to be powder coated
but where can this be done? Google didn't help much apart from one company in nottingham who 'doesn't do that sort of thing'
when i rang them up. They advertise powder coating and 'from a single component to thousands' but no, they don't do that sort of
thing
Anyone know any companies in the east midlands area?

Benzine, if I remember rightly you are near Melton, not so far from Leicester so try these:
KMH - 0116-286 3486
Leicester Enamellers Ltd (also do powder coating) - 0116-275 1231
Midland Enamellers Ltd (also do powder coating) - 0116-269 7861

Having seen who you are recommending for powder coating I had a thought. What about enamelling components? Probably a stupid idea but why not? Does
enamelling chip too easily?

very good point Doc!!!
don't know is my answer!! I would guess that enamelling is quite a bit more expensive, but that's only a guess. It is more brittle than
powder coat but then it won't gouge like powdercoat does so who knows? My bits are done else I would try it, anybody want to give it a go?

I use Leicester Enamellers (they are located in Narborough), the quality is good, but best of all they don't rip you off and are pretty relaxed
about doing small jobs. Their minimum charge is around £16.00 , but I've dropped in before now with a piddling one off, and so long as you can
wait until they are doing another job of the same colour, you can get it cheaper than this (talk to them nicely)
Just had a quote for 6 off 8' x 1' x 18" tubular steel frames (30mm box section) at £16.00 each...very reasonable.
I used KMH twice, before I discovered Leic's Enam', the quality was poor and the cost is usually double that of Leic's Enamellers
(only use them if I'm desparate)
Just make sure you ask the price before you leave the job and do all the prep work yourself (descaling, cleaning, degreasing etc).
All the best,
Dave.
