Oh my that’s a bit wild…

So after an all-nighter redbull fuelled spray job on Friday (finished at 3 in the morning and getting a bit lightheaded) had the old bus repainted

Slightly more mental looking than I was bargaining for but I quite like how it turned out, a damn sight better than that scabby old original silver

I bought 3 cans of each colour (Krylon camo paint bought from an online gun shop) hoping since each can is meant to do 25 sq feet to have enough left over to do the Landy as well, that was bit optimistic as I almost used all of it on just this car! Oh well even then it only cost £60 for this spray job which isn’t too bad. Would say their white paint is a bit harder to not get runny and not as solid as the other colours

Masking took around 2 hours, the worst part and spraying took about 3. Went through 4 card maskings (rough ripped edge thick card) but should have made twice as many as they fair get covered in paint. I have sealed the wheels with mat lacquer and may do the same for the rest of the car as it makes the colours much more vivid and easier to rinse clean. Forgot how noisy the low profiles are compared to the standard wheels but they do look better

We’ll see how it fairs up to daily use

Lol - A firm contender for PH or Barry boys shed of the week!

Where did you get the matt laquer, As i wanted my wheels matt, so just left them unlaquered as I didnt think there was such thing as matt laquer. Wish I had now as they are chipping far to easily.

My 13 year old Honda CRV might look quite good painted like that - couldent look worse

Cheers!

You'd be surprised how quickly the sales people at B&Q try and assist you after ignoring you for the past 15 minutes when you try and start a chainsaw

Rustoleum & Krylon both do matt laquers, I used the rustoleum one as I had a can already

The car before was just looking dreadful, it was all scratched and half had been can resprayed, was quoted £500 to get it resprayed but as I'm saving up for a mx5 I could not justify that.

This is just my old hack daily work car...so long as it keeps working I'm happy

I trust that you have notified your insurance company of the change in colour - I'm intrigued as to how you would describe it on the reg doc too

Colour is down as just camoflage, there's no need to give then a break down of the colours, had camo Landys in the past no big deals with it, type camo car into google and there are tons now, can't say it's an original idea

Thanks I like it too tbh

Funny though, I took my folks to the airport yesterday for their flight, as I get there it did occur to me that driving to the front of an airport in a camouflage car might not be the wisest idea, fortunately we weren't shot at

NO chance of being shot, they just didn't see it.

Like it! What a great way of getting a cheap paint job

Ever thought of going into the business of 'alternative paint jobs' for cars?

Could have the logo "The only limit is your imagination"

Like it. For £ 60 for materials it's a great value way of turning what was an eyesore into an eye catcher.
